TARRAGON WAFERS

  • ½ c butter
  • 1 c brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • ½ c toasted sesame seeds
  • ½ c toasted pecan pieces
  • 1 ½ tsp crushed dried tarragon
  • ¾ c flour
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt

Cream together butter, sugar and vanilla. Beat in egg. Stir in sesame seeds, pecans, and tarragon. Sift dry ingredients together and add to mixture. Mix well. Drop onto parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake in 375° oven for 8 to 10 minutes. Yield:  4 dozen wafers.

Variation:  substitute 1 tsp Kahlua for the vanilla and 2 tb minced fresh rosemary for the tarragon.
